4 Drawer Dresser with Blue and White Pulls

November 28, 2012 By Reeves @ The Weathered Door Leave a Comment

Before some paint and new hardware, this dresser was not looking too good.

The drawer pulls were falling off, the bottom needed to be nailed in, and the top needed to be put on. Most of those were easy fixes thanks to my dad, the fix-it guy. He can solve almost any problem!
I had previously bought 8 of these blue and white-ish drawer pulls on clearance at World Market and have been saving them for this dresser.
Once the dresser was fixed, I gave it a couple coats of a medium grey paint (the same color I used on the dresser with the wallpapered top). I let the paint cure, then distressed the edges. After I wiped everything down I waxed the whole piece to give it a protective finish.

I am not so sure how I feel about the color of the dresser and the hardware. If you are not up close, it all blends together.  I am thinking of changing the hardware out with something else, and then using them with a darker color so they pop, like the dresser’s little sister.  The mustard looks great against the dark grey. I love some good hardware, but I want to make sure it is used on the right piece! I’ll be sure to keep you posted on whether I choose to switch out the hardware. I have a stash, so there are many style I can choose from!

*Update: check out this post to see the new hardware this dresser is sporting*

What do you think about the drawer pulls? Do you think they would look better on a different piece?

I was just thinking that I'd like it a little better if the knobs contrasted just a bit more from the body of the dresser when I read the part about how you felt about the knobs. Regardless, I love the color of the dresser! You did a beautiful job!
