A pair of black nightstands with emerald knobs

I have some gorgeous nightstands to share today!  Back to the subject at hand! I have been sharing pictures and updates during the process of painting this set. Be sure to follow me on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter for more regular posts on what I am currently working on. Before, they were just a bit bland and in need of some paint and of course new hardware. I’m all about switching out the hardware to really finish off the look of a piece.

I love crisp white knobs on a piece for some nice contrast, but for these nightstands I wanted to do something different. I chose some emerald and silver knobs from D. Lawless and then decided to use black paint to help the knobs stand out and give a sophisticated look. They have a great selection of hardware, including antique style glass hardware, so if you need some new hardware for a piece, check out their site!

I sanded, filled the old hardware holes and cleaned the nightstands, then painted them with 3 coats of General Finishes Lamp Black Milk Paint. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, I love the consistency of their milk paint and the finish it leaves. So amazing! After the paint had dried and cured it was sealed with Maison Blanche clear wax and the emerald knobs were added. I really love them on the nightstands. I think I need to use colorful knobs more often 🙂

Was hard to believe those were the same night stands after you painted them. Incredible job and the knobs are gorgeous. I usually get my knobs at Hobby Lobby 1/2 off and it's quick. I'll look into that website tho, never know what might find. Thanks for info. I haven't tried milk paint of any brand yet. I like the softer look of the night stands. Happy weekend

I absolutely love the emerald knobs on the black. They pop! I've already pulled up the site where you got the knobs, too–can't wait to see what they have!
