A metallic, pedestal coffee table

November 10, 2013 By Reeves @ The Weathered Door Leave a Comment

Local furniure painters and Pinterest images have inspired me to paint a dresser metallic. Of course I have an idea in my head of what that piece is supposed to look like, and I have yet to find it, so, in the meantime, a lonely coffee table that has been sitting for a while got a little bit of glam!
Here is a quick before! Look at that dust. Yummy.

I was bit weary of using metallic paint since I have heard a few say it can be difficult to work with and takes a lot of paint to get good coverage, but it was not! I just painted the coffee table the way I normally paint and didn’t run into any problems. It took 3 coats to get the right coverage, and the only thing is there is a bit of variation in the sheen depending on which way the brush strokes go and where they stop and start. This was a little troublesome on the top, but it’s hardly noticeable.

I love the shape and style of this coffee table, and think it’s a great piece to add some sophistication to a room and it can add some holiday spirit too! Perfect with Christmas coming up!

Your table looks really good. What brand of metallic paint did you use?

I used Martha Stewarts line, which you can find a Home Depot. I really like it, too!

Thanks, Sue! It's Martha Stewart's line from Home Depot. She has a bunch of cool metallic finishes!

Reeves, your table turned out great! I really love the metallic paint. I haven't tried it myself, but I'm glad to hear you had a good experience with it. Do you know which color in the Martha Stewart line you used? I'd love to feature this on my paint color blog, Involving Color. Let me know if you're interested!

It was the darker silver color in the line, I believe it is called Thundercloud. You are more than welcome to share it, but please include a link back to the post 🙂
