This RCA Victor cabinet came from a garage sale quite a while ago. I finally got around to doing something with it last weekend. Here is how it looked before.
I started by sanding the whole thing. The tops and sides were not too bad, and since they are flat I was able to use the orbital sander. The doors were a different story. They have a thick, lacquer like finish and were much harder to sand. I decided to use milk paint in the color Slate by The Old Fashioned Milk Paint Company. To make sure it would stick and not flake off like milk paint tends to do, I added the boinging agent. I used two coats (that was all I had left from the package) and let it dry over night. It still cracked on the sides and chipped in other places, but I just had to work with it. I gave it a light sanding to smooth everything out, and get all of the chips off, then used orange oil to seal it and really bring out the color.
